LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP
BOARD RESOLUTION No.018, Series of 2021
Date Approved: July 17, 2021
In a landmark decision during its seventh Board of Directors meeting held via Zoom on July 17, 2021, the National Master Plumbers Association of the Philippines, Inc. (NAMPAP, Inc.) unanimously approved Board Resolution No.018, Series of 2021—reviving the esteemed status of Life Membership within the organization.
Purpose and Vision
The revival of Life Membership was proposed with a dual purpose: to honor distinguished members and to generate sustainable funding for the construction of a permanent headquarters and the continued organizational upkeep of NAMPAP, Inc. Twenty percent (20%) of all collected Life Membership fees will be earmarked for this infrastructure initiative, ensuring the association’s long-term stability and growth.
Recognition and Benefits
Life Members will be recognized as distinguished contributors to the organization and will enjoy a 25% discount on all NAMPAP National Conferences and Conventions. This status not only reflects honor but also encourages continued engagement and support.
Historical Context
Historically, Life Membership was a recognized category within NAMPAP’s membership roster. However, the current Constitution and By-laws do not include provisions for it. This resolution seeks to restore and formalize Life Membership, aligning it with the organization’s evolving goals.
Fee Structure Based on Age
To qualify, members must have at least three years of active, good-standing membership. The one-time Life Membership fee is tiered by age:
Senior active members nearing senior citizen status may be awarded Honorary Status for their dedication to the plumbing profession. The Professional Practice Committee may also consider other committed members with valid reasons for inclusion.
Fund Management and Transparency
A separate bank account will be established for Life Membership proceeds to ensure proper fund management. Annual dues equivalent will be transferred to the general account for operational budgeting, while interest income will remain within the Life Membership fund. Every three years, a fund review and project planning session will be conducted. Members may request fund status updates during business hours for transparency.
Identification and Symbolism
Distinctive ID cards will be issued to Life Members, featuring a blue design with a gold bottom strip—symbolizing wisdom, knowledge, and wealth shared with the organization. Journeymen and Associate Members will receive green cards (representing growth and energy), while Regular Members will have blue cards (symbolizing calm and expanse). All ID cards will be valid for five years and subject to renewal.
National Scope and Local Chapter Policy
Life Membership is a national initiative. Local chapters will not receive a share of Life Membership fees, though members must continue paying local dues to maintain chapter engagement.
Council of Life Members
A Council of Life Members will be formed to oversee fund usage and member engagement. Interest income may be used for special projects or dividends upon approval by two-thirds (2/3) of Life Members.
Reinstatement and Inactivity Policy
Existing Life Members prior to this resolution will be automatically reinstated. However, those inactive for two consecutive years will be marked “IN-ACTIVE” and lose associated benefits. Reinstatement requires participation in an organizational activity, a one-hour CPD lecture or performance, and a ₱500 fine per inactive year. Valid reasons may be considered for amnesty.
Honorary Life Membership
For public recognition and promotion, NAMPAP may bestow Honorary Life Membership to individuals with significant contributions to the plumbing industry—even if they are not members or Master Plumbers. Inspired by the 1954 gesture of the Chicago Plumbers Union offering honorary membership to Albert Einstein, this honor will be granted upon endorsement by an active Life Member and unanimous approval by the National Board of Directors. Posthumous awards require family consent and will be featured in official publications with a brief citation.
